What People Are Saying About eTutoring

Washington State University’s Distance Degree Programs, in partnership with WashingtonOnline, a unit of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, formed an eTutoring consortium of surrounding colleges and universities in the Washington and Oregon areas. Their mission was to provide quality tutoring to their online student population. The collaborative nature of eTutoring allowed Washington State University (WSU) to connect with their neighbor colleges and universities and pool their common resources for the good of the region. Additionally, the eTutoring platform allowed WSU to use the enhanced tools to upgrade their existing Online Writing Lab (OWL). Janet Kendall, the coordinator for the Northwest tutoring consortium, states that “eTutoring is an outstanding platform, very easy to use, staffed by extremely helpful, responsive people.”

What options are available to me?

eTutoring offers two models: private collaborative or regional collaborative. Within the private collaborative model, your institutions would run a private tutoring collaborative. You would create your own policies and procedures as you see fit. Within the regional collaborative model, your collaborative would partner with eTutoring to deliver tutoring services to regional institutions outside of your consortium or system. Your collaborative would manage those services with assistance and oversight from eTutoring. In exchange for providing this service, your collaborative would receive reduced rates.

What technology will my students need?

eTutoring is built to be cross platform and cross browser compatible. The only plug-in students will need to have installed on their computers is Adobe Flash for the live tutoring sessions.
