As a student currently enrolled in for-credit classes at Edmonds Community College, you have access to free, online tutoring assistance through eTutoring.
Edmonds Community College has partnered with a group of other universities and colleges called the Western eTutoring Consortium to offer these services. You have access to tutors in the following areas:
The first time you log in to eTutoring, you will use your username and a default password. We strongly suggest that after logging in for the first time, you change your password.
To log in, you will enter your username and password and make sure to select the "Student" option under "User Type."
Username: your student ID number (9 digits, no hyphens)
Default password: your student ID number (9 digits, no hyphens)
After you log in for the first time, you will first need to verify your account by entering your student ID number in both the Student ID and Confirm Student ID fields.
At this time, you will also have the option to change your password.
Finally, you will be asked to read and accept the eTutoring Terms and Conditions by checking the "I agree to all terms and conditions" box at the bottom of the page.
Once this has all been completed, you're ready to access free tutoring! Click on one of the eTutoring Resources on the Welcome page to get started.
NOTE: If you receive the message “Your username and/or password is incorrect” while trying to log in, first reset your password by clicking “Forget your password?” If you still have trouble after changing your password, please contact Jeremiah Roland, the Director of the Learning Support Center, at firstname.lastname@example.org. In your email, include your name and the last 4 digits of your student ID number—once your login problems are fixed, you will receive an email letting you know you can access the system.
You can get assistance from tutors in three different ways:
Online Writing Lab allows you to submit a draft of your paper to a tutor, ask for specific feedback, and receive your work back with a tutor's response within 24-48 hours.
Live Tutoring via eChat allows you to meet with a tutor in one-on-one tutoring sessions via a fully interactive, virtual environment.
Offline eQuestions allows you to leave a specific question for an eTutor, who will respond within 48 hours (but usually sooner).
How to Use eTutoring
If you choose eChat, colored tutor icons will show which tutors are online. Click on the icon you wish to “chat” with. Note that you must allow pop-ups in the Breeze chat window.
If a tutor isn’t available for eChat, you can leave a message using eQuestions.
